D'eagraigh Coiste Amelia Lá Bándearg inniu i gcuimhne ar a cara Amelia a mbeadh breithlá aici an tseachtain seo. Bhí spiorad álainn san aer agus an pobal scoile uile ag caitheamh bándeirg agus ag léiriú spioraid sa chéilí a bhí eagraithe ag an gCoiste. Bhuail Coiste Amelia agus grúpa scoláirí eile ón idirbhliain le hiarmhúinteoir Rince Ghaelaigh Amelia, Denise, ar maidin le damhsaí Gaelacha a chleachtadh. B'aoibhinn le hAmelia rince Gaelach agus ba dheis álainn í seo le comóradh a dhéanamh uirthi agus solas dearfach a chur ar am brónach. Rinne scoláirí na hIdirbhliana dhá chéilí a reáchtáil- ceann do bhliain 1 agus ceann do bhliain 2- le cúnamh ón múinteoir Lana. Bhí deis ag na scoláirí damhsaí nua a fhoghlam agus a thriail agus bhain siad an-sult as an eispéireas. Molaimid Coiste Amelia go hard as an lá álainn seo a eagrú le comóradh a dhéanamh ar a gcara.
The Amelia Committee organised a 'Pink Day' today in memory of their friend Amelia, who would have celebrated her birthday this week. There was a beautiful atmosphere in the school, with the staff and students dressed in pink for the day and at the wonderful céilí organised by the committee. Amelia loved Irish dancing and attended classes for much of her life, so the céilí was an amazing way to bring a positive light to a difficult time. The committee and a group of TY students met with Denise, Amelia's former dancer teacher in the morning to practice some set dances. They then held two céilí sessions- one for first years and one for second years- where they taught the students set dances with help from an Múinteoir Lana. The students had the chance to learn new dances and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We commend the Amelia Committee for organising such a heartening day to commemorate their friend.
